Are you looking for storage that works across your USB Type-C and Type-A devices? Then you are in luck. At this years CES, SanDisk unveiled the new Ultra Dual Drive Luxe Type-C USB Flash Drive, which allows you to move files between your USB Type-C smartphone, tablets and Macs and Type-A computers.

This 2-in-1 USB from SanDisk looks just like another flash drive, however, this particular model comes in capacities of up to a staggering 1TB. Featuring an all-metal casing and swivel design, this flash drive has been built to protect the drives connectors when you are on the move, whilst a handy keyring hole allows you to keep it convenient and secure.

The company actually exhibited a prototype design of ‘the world’s smallest’ 1TB USB-C flash drive at CES in 2018, and just two years on, that design is now a real product – with the added component of an attached USB-A port.

Unlike the 8TB Portable SSD prototype that SanDisk also announced at CES 2020, the Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 1TB Flash Drive isn’t a prototype and is expected to be on sale later this year. At this current time, SanDisk hasn’t confirmed the release date. We do know, however, that the Dual Drive will be available in capacities from 32GB all the way up to 1TB with 150MB/s read speeds thanks to the high-end USB 3.1 Gen 1 performance standard.

This product could be a big attraction to those who need to carry a large amount of data around or need to back up files quickly. Regardless of whether you feel like you would use this flash drive or not, it’s great to see how much storage can be packed into a product of such a small form factor. Plus, having the ability to seamlessly move files between USB Type-C smartphones to most laptops or computers, will make it a much easier process to transfer data.
