What is a memory card?

What’s the best type of memory card for my device?
When choosing a memory card for your device, you’ll need to consider the size you require as well as the appropriate connection. Some devices might not be compatible with standard SD cards or advanced SDXC cards, whilst others may require Micro SD cards for a smaller fitting.
Different cards also have different write speeds, so if you need a memory card to work quickly, you might want to consider this too. You will find all this information on our product pages, as well as being able to search for cards by speed, class, capacities, and brand.
Will I need any additional software or equipment for my memory card?
If your computer or TV doesn’t have a dedicated memory card slot, you may need a memory card reader, which adapts your memory card to USB format so you can transfer files. Alternatively, WiFi SD cards feature a built in component to transfer data over a wireless network.
