As well as being available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB, SDHC cards also vary in the speed at which data can be written and read. A speed class rating is given to every SD card to guarantee a minimum speed. Faster speeds mean you can take more pictures at a faster rate, and download files more efficiently.

Whilst most devices are compatible with SDHC cards, they do come formatted as FAT32, compared with standard SD cards at FAT16.
