I purchased this out of interest, and particularly so when noticing that this specific oximeter, sold elsewhere at twice the price, has been considered accurate enough for use by health professionals.
Accurate placing on the finger is crucial, as is allowing time for the reading to settle down. Once it has, the pulse reading is accurate, and I can only assume that the Oxygen reading (99 normally, but dropping to a lower figure if I hold my breath long enough, before rising back to 99 when breathing normally) is accurate.

Bought it to help monitor my son's blood oxidation levels and it does it briliantly. Easy to use, handy leash to attach it to. Very happy with it.

Very useful when hiking above 2500m
But also good device when bad flu etc and you can see how bad the chest infection is.
