The Problem:
We like to solve problems here at MyMemory and one problem which several of us have (those of us with iPhones) is the fact that our mobile phones, on occasion, tend to run out of internal memory space rendering them useless for some functions.
For instance, running out of memory can be a HUGE pain when you are trying to take still images or video of your child’s birthday party and you’re told that you have no more space to continue shooting. I for one can tell you my wife will not be listening to my excuses as to why we have not recorded the blowing out of the candles!!
The Saviour:
Thankfully, Sandisk have come to save my (and your) skin and introduced the iXpand Flash Drive. This device is like a mini portable thumb drive with built in lightning plug, USB 2.0 and it’s own internal battery.
Once plugged into your iPhone or even your iPad the Sandisk iXpand Flash Drive allows you to copy your images and video onto the device and once removed and plugged into your desktop/laptop you can view and upload for safe keeping, allowing you to then delete and free up that badly needed space from your iPhone/iPad.
The iXpand can also be used to host a library of films and/or photo’s for when you are off travelling and find yourself with some time on your hands. Just plug in your device, select your film/photo’s and off you go. Simple!
Security:
OK, so we all care about the security of our family video’s and photos and the SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive offers you the facility to password protect your files. However, if you do not password protect your files anyone finding your flash drive can access your content – so be careful and don’t leave it lying around!
Size and Speed:
The iXpand Flash Drive comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with transfer speeds of up to 3x transfer speeds of similar devices running at 2.5MB/s write speeds. However, whilst the speed is pretty decent you would imagine that SanDisk will be improving this if and when they use USB 3.0 for data transfer. Perhaps in the future this could be done wirelessly. SanDisk could also increase the size of their cards as well. There are a lot of people out there with more than 64GB of movies that they would like to make available for viewing on their phone.
Compatibility:
The iXpand Flash Drive is compatible with iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad with Retina display. (IOS 7.1+)
Where to Buy:
You can find the iXpand Flash Drive on MyMemory website.
How do I save mails from my Iphone6 to iXpand?
Hi Ivan
Many thanks for the question. Unfortunately, there is no facility to save your emails onto the Ixpand drive. You are able to backup your photos, videos, music and documents. Do let us know if you have any further questions or comments. Thank you.
