OnePlus never settles. Once again, the Chinese company proved how serious they are about staying true to their now iconic tagline. It hasn’t even been six months since OnePlus unveiled their latest flagship device, but they already are releasing an upgraded version of it.

The new smartphone called OnePlus 3T aims to replace the popular OnePlus 3. What the “T” stands for? The company says “We went with ‘T’ because a lot of other companies go with ‘S’, and since we are OnePlus we decided to go with the next letter, read one more.” As for why they release the device now, OnePlus claims they do not want their customers to wait too long for the best possible user experience.

But how much different the OnePlus 3T is it to the 3? Design-vise is very similar – it has the same dimensions, weight, and display. The only visual difference is in the colour scheme. The OnePlus 3 was available in graphite or soft gold, while the OnePlus 3T is launching in gunmetal and soft gold.

The biggest areas of difference are actually related to internal specs and performance. The OnePlus 3T comes with a faster processor, bigger battery, better front-facing camera and more storage options.

The processor was upgraded from Snapdragon 820 with a clock speed of up to 2.2GHz to the newest Snapdragon 821, clocked at 2.35GHz. Although the phone’s dimensions remained the same, OnePlus managed to squeeze in a larger 3,400mAh battery, which represents a 400mAh increase over its predecessor. The battery also supports the company’s proprietary Dash quick charging technology, which promises a day’s worth of power with a 30-minute charge.

When it comes to camera capabilities, the rear one remained almost the same, except it is more durable than the OnePlus 3’s, as it’s protected from scratches with a layer of Sapphire glass. The front camera, on the other hand, was improved from 8MP to 16MP and optimised for clearer photos and videos, even in low light.

The OnePlus 3T has an option for 128GB of storage in addition to 64GB model, but 128GB is exclusive to the gunmetal color. The rest of the changes are found in software, as the 3T is coming with an updated version of OnePlus’ OxygenOS, a lightly customised version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The new phone will be available for purchase in the US starting on November 22nd and in Europe on November 28th. The 64GB model will cost $439/£399.
