Best Memory Cards for GoPro Hero 4

Looking for the best memory cards for the GoPro Hero 4 Black or Silver? Our guide will help you to get the most out of your action camera.

If you’ve caught the GoPro bug then you will know that the GoPro camera does not come with a memory card for capturing all those awesome moments you’ll be experiencing. With so many cards on the market, it can be difficult choosing which one is right for you. Luckily, we’re are here to help.

Released back in 2014, the GoPro Hero 4 Black and GoPro Hero 4 Silver brought a major step up in terms of video performance and control interface. The fourth generation of GoPro cameras feature 4K video at 30fps  and 1080p at 120fps, alongside Bluetooth support and the ability to tag your best footage as it’s shot.

Unfortunately, the GoPro Hero 4 Black and Silver, doesn’t come with a screen, which means there is no way to check the position on the camera. However, users can connect their GoPro to a smart device via Wi-Fi to check live footage and composition on the camera.

Choosing the correct memory card:

To achieve the best results with your GoPro, it’s extremely important to choose the correct microSD cards that will work well with your camera. However, it’s important to note that not every microSD on the market will work well with your GoPro model. For example, if the card is too slow, it may result in errors with video recording and end up erasing all of your footage.

There is always a risk that if your microSD card isn’t up to requirements, that you could encounter error messages or loss of data. Whenever a GoPro crashes or freezes it’s usually always down to the card that is being used.

When it comes to action cameras, the speed class of a memory card is very important. The write speed really affects the performance in video mode, as when recording video, the device needs to actually save a steady stream of data. This is exactly what you are expecting a GoPro camera to do whilst filming video at high resolutions. Therefore, GoPro has recommended microSD cards with at least a Class 10 or UHS-I rating for the optimal performance of GoPro Hero 4  cameras.

To make life a little easier and to ensure your GoPro works to its full potential, we have rounded up a short list of the best memory cards for the GoPro Hero 4. Check them out below:

  1. Ultimate share!!

They are very compact size cameras so they work well on helmets, helicopters, and other areas where a larger camera can’t fit well.

  2. i bought the samsung EVO sdx 64gb for my gopro4 black, after giving me endless sd errors and re formating the card varios times i looked into it further, this card has a memroy rate of 48mb/s apparently you need a lot faster memory rate for the high quality settings, like the sandisk ultra pro (90mb/s). look carefully at which card you buy, as not all class 10 micro sd will work correctly with the gopro hero 4 black!!
