It’s safe to assume that the majority of you tuned in yesterday to watch Apple’s keynote event that introduced to world to a new Apple Watch iOs, 4K Apple TV, iPhone 8/8+ & the hotly anticipated iPhone X.
For those of you that didn’t, I won’t bore you too much with an exact transcript of the event, instead i’ll jump straight into what they showcased, specs and dates, our favourite features and what we’re most excited about.
So here it is, a roundup of what to expect for the future of Apple.
Watch Series 3 & iOS 4
First to be announced at the Apple event was the Apple Watch Series 3, no major redesigns but an abundance of new features which, if you haven’t got one already, you’ll probably be convinced by the time you finish this section.
You can answer a call from anywhere. Ask Siri to send a message. Stream your favourite songs on your run. And do it all while leaving your phone behind. Introducing Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular connectivity. Now you have the freedom to go with just your watch.
With Apple Music coming to Apple Watch, it has never been easier to pick up your water bottle and head out for a run. The newly integrated music streaming service allows you to stream over 40 million songs at the touch of a button. No need to preload playlists and if you don’t know what to listen to, you can ask Siri for suggestions.
Your workouts will now be taken to another level. Apple Watch is faster, smarter and more in tune with you than you might think. Tracking all your movements and setting you personal goals to complete the ‘rings’ has never been easier. Apple Watch will push you to your limits (if you want it to) and give you motivation and goals to achieve.
Another exciting feature (thanks to the new cellular abilities of the watch) you can get all your notifications straight to your watch without having your phone nearby. Is this the end of mobile phones as we know it?

4K Apple TV
Next came Apple TV news. It has received a much needed upgrade to 4K. Pretty straight forward really. They’ve enhanced the processing chips in the Apple TV box to be able to keep up with HDR & 4K streaming. With the new processors this means a lot less thinking time and a lot more streaming. As an added bonus, any HD movies you’ve bought through iTunes, Apple will upgrade to 4K, FREE OF CHARGE.
There are some awesome additional features which benefits the games within Apple TV and for sports fans, it will personalise the content that you would like to see and notify you when your favourite sports team has a match on, as well as prioritising it as your ‘Up Next’.

What came next was the iPhone 8… What was rumoured to be an ‘S’ model of last years iPhone 7 has had such a huge upgrade, they scrapped the S all together and rebranded it the iPhone 8.
iPhone 8 introduces an all‑new glass design, the world’s most popular camera, now even better, the smartest, most powerful chip ever in an iPhone (Bionic A11), wireless charging that’s truly effortless, and augmented reality experiences never before possible.
It has the most durable glass ever in an iPhone, front and back. A colour-matched, aerospace‑grade aluminium band and new space grey, silver and gold finishes. It has also been engineered to be water and dust proof to a microscopic level and boasts a HD Retina display with True Tone, a wide colour gamut and 3D Touch.
True Tone technology automatically adjusts white balance to match the light around you for a better viewing experience in all kinds of environments.
Not only that but the camera has also had an overhaul. The iPhone 8 features a more advanced 12MP camera. With a larger, faster sensor. A new colour filter. Deeper pixels. And optical image stabilisation for photos and videos.
As we’re quick off the mark, we already have a bunch of iPhone 8 accessories available here.
Last but certainly not least is the ‘one more thing…’ Apple were keeping ‘secret’, the hotly anticipated iPhone X. With rumours circling the internet for well over a year now, some of them came to fruition, whilst others were way off the mark.
The design was leaked last week but it didn’t take away from the thrill of seeing it finalised, ‘in person’ and fully functioning.
Like the iPhone 8, the back and front are made from the strongest glass available on a smartphone and encased with surgical grade steel, but the obvious difference is the brand new, edge-to-edge OLED display.
“Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen. One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience. And so intelligent it can respond to a tap, your voice, and even a glance. With iPhone X, that vision is now a reality. Say hello to the future.”
The specs themselves aren’t too dissimilar to the iPhone 8, however, there are some additional new features that really elevates this iPhone and sets it apart from the rest.
With iPhone X, the device is the display. An all-new 5.8-inch Super Retina screen fills the hand and dazzles the eyes. The display employs new techniques and technology to precisely follow the curves of the design, all the way to the elegantly rounded corners.
iPhone X has the first OLED screen that rises to the standards of iPhone, with accurate, stunning colours, true blacks, high brightness, and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio.
A tiny space houses some of the most sophisticated technology we’ve ever developed, including the cameras and sensors that enable Face ID.
So let’s talk about this brand new feature for a second, Face ID. Your face is now your password. Face ID is a secure new way to unlock, authenticate and pay. Face ID is enabled by the TrueDepth camera and is simple to set up. It projects and analyses more than 30,000 invisible dots to create a precise depth map of your face.
That’s not all however, I’ve covered the highlights of the event here, but there is a bunch of other cool new things that this phone can do, which you can check out here.
