OCZ reveals new SSD drive29 October 2010 15:35:22
A new high-performance solid-state drive (SSD) has been unveiled by OCZ Technology.
Called the RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD, it is a follow up to the RevoDrive, with increased performance and capacity, aimed at high-performance computing consumers.
"Building on the success of the original design, we are excited to introduce the RevoDrive X2, which delivers both increased performance and capacity, making the RevoDrive X2 a viable option for a wide spectrum of applications that include professional graphic design, multimedia rendering, and workstations," said Ryan Petersen, chief executive of OCZ.
The new SSD can deliver speeds of up to 740MB/sec and up to 120,000 IOPS, nearly triple the throughput of other high-end SATA-based drives, as it replaces the typical SATA II format with a PCIe x4 interface.
It is available in capacities from 100GB to a massive 960GB.
OCZ recently announced it is to open a new SSD manufacturing plant in Taiwan in order to meet growing demand.

Catherine Zeta-Jones taking up golf29 October 2010 15:26:06
Welsh movie star Catherine Zeta-Jones has revealed she is a fan of golf, describing it as having a "Zen quality".
It may inspire others to try the sport or to buy a golf trip as a gift for a loved one for a birthday or Christmas.
The 41-year-old has been playing at a celebrity golf tournament in China this week.
"There's nothing better than just having nothing else to focus on than a still white ball," she told Agence France Presse.
"I find it very therapeutic, and even if you can't hit the ball that particular day, there's a privacy and a kind of Zen quality to golf that I love.
"There's a wonderful solace of being out there on the beautiful (golf) course."
Other hobbies could also help inspire gift ideas with a range of experiences available to buy.
These could include football stadium tours, a day at the races or an arts and crafts course.
