Xbox Live coming to Windows Mobile?

Xbox Live coming to Windows Mobile?31 December 2009 15:23:44

Rumours that Microsoft is planning to bring its Xbox Live service to Windows Mobile users are circulating after a recent job vacancy was advertised by the company.

The Xbox Live service allows Xbox 360 customers to play games and access other content over the internet.

Therefore, the new job ad raises the possibility of Windows Mobile users being able to play Xbox Live games over their phones.

Microsoft posted the ad under the job title "Principal program manager - LIVE entertainment for the Xbox Live product".

The ad read: "We need a Principle Program Manager who can help drive the platform and bring Xbox LIVE enabled games to Windows Mobile.

"This person will focus specifically on what makes gaming experiences 'LIVE Enabled' through aspects such as avatar integration, social interactions, and multi-screen experiences."

Windows Mobile is a compact operating system for mobile phones launched by Microsoft originally in 2003. It is now the fourth largest operating system for smartphones such as the Samsung Omnia Pro.ADNFCR-2752-ID-19535910-ADNFCR

Apple wins headphone court case

Apple wins headphone court case31 December 2009 15:22:17

Apple has emerged victorious from a legal battle in the US over the potential of its products to damage customers' hearing.

A judge in northern California upheld a 2008 ruling that the company were not directly responsible if users of its products suffered hearing loss.

The plaintiffs in the case had argued that the volume level that iPod and iPhone owners could listen to music when using headphones was so loud it could cause hearing difficulties.

But the judge claimed they had failed to prove the risk was "actual or imminent" only that damage could be done if customers chose to use the product in a risky way.

"The plaintiffs do not allege the iPods failed to do anything they were designed to do nor do they allege that they, or any others, have suffered or are substantially certain to suffer inevitable hearing loss," the judge said.

Apple has been involved in another legal dispute lately. Earlier this month it was announced the company would countersue Nokia over alleged copyright infringements.ADNFCR-2752-ID-19535907-ADNFCR

Technology experts recommend iPhone accessories

Cnet.com, a leading online technology magazine, has recommended those that received an iPhone over Christmas invest in battery boosting aids such as the iPhone power sleeve.

The website said that such accessories could help "zap your handset back to life when all the juice is gone".

It also said that a must-have was a case to protect the iPhone from bumps and scratches, something also offered by the iPhone power sleeve.

Several other recommendations were also made on how to get the best out of the popular mobile phone, including downloading useful apps and games.

"Exercising discretion, particularly when purchasing apps, is wise. You might say, 'It's just 99 cents!' but 99 cents multiplied scores of times can result in a hefty iTunes bill," the magazine said.

iPhone network providers O2 recently announced they were looking at ways to improve their service for users in London.

The announcement came after a series of disruptions to the network for those in the capital in the second half of 2009.ADNFCR-2752-ID-19535892-ADNFCR
