OCZ ships one millionth SSD28 March 2011 15:24:33
Solid state drive (SSD) manufacturer OCZ is celebrating reaching a new milestone.
The company, which designs and manufactures SSDs for personal computers, high-performance workstations and enterprise storage systems, has announced that it has now shipped its one millionth SSD.
Ryan Petersen, the chief executive of OCZ, said the achievement signalled the rising prominence of SSDs in the technology market.
"Solid state drives continue to represent a game-changing technology for both consumers and enterprise clients, and we are proud to achieve this milestone," he said.
"But most of all, I wanted to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of our loyal customers and partners, without whom this success would not be possible."
Earlier this month, OCZ announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Indilinx Co Ltd, a provider of flash controller silicon and software for SSDs headquartered in South Korea.
OCZ said it will gain "substantial intellectual property" for use in its SSD products from the acquisition.
