Low light picture quality gets a boost

Low light picture quality gets a boost25 January 2012 13:45:08

The next generation of Sony smartphones will see marked improvements in low light picture quality thanks to new RGBW sensor technology.

The new sensor adds white to the conventional red, green and blue (RGB) colour range increasing the camera's sensitivity and creating a more dynamic, higher quality image particularly in low light situations.

"These new Sony camera sensors should set a new standard in smartphones and are likely to eclipse even Apple's iPhone 4S sensor. The new cameras are due to launch later this year with the Summer looking the most likely arrival."
