FIFA 12 finishes year in top place 3 January 2012 16:52:53
FIFA 12 has performed well enough to ensure that it finished the year on top of the table in the UK Interactive Entertainment all format game charts.
The soccer simulator experienced a 27 per cent sales drop from its pre-Christmas sales, but still had enough to see off the competition.
EA Sports's main rival was Activision and its mega-selling shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which like the football game experienced a large drop in sales after the Christmas festivities.
Last year was a record one for both titles, with FIFA 12 surpassing the gross of any previous EA launch and Modern Warfare 3 breaking the all-time figures for an entertainment debut.
Just Dance 3 experienced a decrease in interest and as a result, Electronic Arts' military thriller Battlefield 3 climbed above it into the third place on the list.
Ubisoft's Assassins Creed: Revelations rounded out the year's final top five.
