8.9-inch version of Samsung's Galaxy Tab on the way24 February 2011 18:22:46
A new version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet computer could be on the way.
It has been a little over a week since Samsung unveiled the 10.1-inch version of the device, to sit alongside the existing seven-inch model.
However, according to Korea's Yonhap news agency, consumers are to be given a third screen-size option when an 8.9-inch version is also released later this year.
It claims a spokesman said that Samsung that the Android-based tablet will be launched during the first half of this year through mobile operators.
However, the news agency reports that local media have said that the 8.9-inch Galxy Tab could hit shelves as early as next month.
It comes after Samsung recently reported it has shipped over two million units of its original Galaxy Tab since its launch in November.
The Korean firm unveiled the 10.1-inch version, also called the Galaxy Tab 2, at this month's Mobile World Congress.
