Razer to use SSD in new high performance notebook23 December 2011 12:09:06

Solid state drives (SSD) could soon be used in an increasing array of desktop, laptop and notebook devices as more developers become aware of their advantages.

Razer has become the latest hardware firm to announce that it will use an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive for the memory storage requirements in its latest gaming computer.

The company made the announcement on its Facebook page and stated that demand for the device has meant that it could negotiate better rates with suppliers and in turn fit higher-performance components.

Razer also said that the move will see the launch date of its latest offering be pushed back slightly, but stressed that the upgrade from a hard disk to the SSD would be worth the wait.

SSDs offer computer users all the storage capacity of traditional hard drives yet add increased performance and are more reliable as they have no moving parts.
