Co-founded by Mel Gibson in 1989, Icon Productions was originally created when Gibson experienced trouble financing the 1990 motion picture version of Hamlet. Icon has since acted as a production company and distributor for many of Gibson's productions, including Braveheart and The Passion Of The Christ.
